Relic chondrule in Dhurmsala. --4 mm x 2 mm, crossed polars. Amphoterite LL6 ohc, 18% Fe, olivine Fa27. Barred chondrule; also a relic chondrule - partially re-melted and combining 2 structures. Mostly olivine. Surrounding area is a porphyritic chondrule containing the relic, and thus a compound chondrule. 226 kb. --(PA)
Mount St. Helens ash. Dark field. -- ~1/2 mm. Glass shards form as magma moves toward surface, decreased pressure and temperature, molten silica solidifies between grains into threadlike shards. 216 kb. --(PA)
